The Leaderboarded for Sheets add-on turns a Google Sheet into a live, shareable leaderboard — no copy-pasting, no CSV exports, and no "publish to web" step. You keep your data in the spreadsheet you already use, and Leaderboarded builds the leaderboard from it. This guide walks you through installing the add-on and creating your first board.

What you'll need

  • A Google account and any Google Sheet.
  • One column of names (people or teams) and one column of scores (any number). That's the whole requirement — the add-on reads those two columns and does the rest.

Install the add-on

  1. Open any Google Sheet.
  2. Go to Extensions → Add-ons → Get add-ons to open the Google Workspace Marketplace.
  3. Search for Leaderboarded for Sheets and click Install, then approve the permissions.
  4. Reopen the sheet. The Leaderboarded icon now appears in the right-hand side panel.

The add-on only ever reads the spreadsheet you have open — it can't browse your Drive or open your other files.

Create your leaderboard

  1. Click the Leaderboarded icon in the right-hand side panel to open the add-on.
  2. Choose which column holds the names and which holds the scores. The add-on guesses both for you, so usually you can just confirm.
  3. Click Create leaderboard. Your board opens in a new tab, sorted high-to-low and ready to share.

Choose how it stays in sync

Open the add-on panel on a connected sheet and pick how the leaderboard updates:

  • Manual (the default) — the board updates only when you click Sync now. A "Recent syncs" list shows your last few pushes so you know it worked.
  • Auto-sync — flip the Auto-sync switch and every edit pushes to the leaderboard a few seconds after you make it, even with the panel closed. Great for a board on a TV during a live challenge.

Rename the sheet whenever you like

Your spreadsheet stays the single source of truth. Rename the sheet, sync, and the leaderboard's title updates to match — so there's never a stale name to fix in two places.

Share or embed it

Every leaderboard has its own link. Send it to your team, open it full-screen on a TV or projector, or embed it on a website or intranet page. Viewers always see the latest synced standings — no accounts required to watch.

Disconnect

To stop syncing, open the add-on on the connected sheet and choose Disconnect. Your spreadsheet is untouched; only the link between it and the leaderboard is removed.

That's it — your spreadsheet is now a live leaderboard. Learn more on the Leaderboarded for Sheets page, or read how teams use it for sales, classrooms, and challenges.
